I’m going to make a major musical assumption! Here it is…I think  we will be hearing some new music from Jazmine Sullivan very soon, like a third album, this year soon! We’ve not heard much from the Philly songstress, in a very long time, but yesterday she performed to a packed out show at KOKO Theater in London. With her band and incredible background singers in tow, she performed a string of her hits including “Need U Bad,” “Lions, Tigers, Bears,” and “Bust Your Windows,” as well as a soul-stirring performance of “In Love With Another Man” and a jazz-infused cover of Daft Punk‘s “Get Lucky,” adding a few of those flawless scats reminding us why we’ve been missing her.

A graduate of the Creative & Performing Arts High School in Philadelphia, Jazmine burst into mainstream music with her 2008 debut hit single, “Need You Bad,” after having penned songs for Christina Milian, Monica, Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson and more. “Need You Bad” peaked at #1 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip Songs and her second single “Bust Your Windows,” peaked at #4. As the protégée of Grammy Winning producer/singer/songwriter extraordinaire, Missy Elliot, it’s no wonder her debut album “Fearless” went on to be nominated for countless awards, including 7 Grammy Nominations, of which she was awarded none (major, major Grammy snub moment). Her second album “Love Me Back” featured the hit single, “Holding You Down (Circles)” which also garnered a Grammy nomination, but didn’t receive as much overall success as her debut album.  After much success, and few major setbacks, it came as big shock when she announced back in 2011 that she’d be taking a break from her music career, a very long 3 year break.

It looks like that break is now over! If yesterday’s performance in London was any indication of what we have to look forward to, we all should get ready because she’s back! No word on the official album release date or when we can expect the official first single, but take heed and we’ll do our best to keep you updated!
