Today, we lost one of the greatest literary giants of our time.  Dr. Maya Angelou, noted for her classic 1969 autobiography “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,” and rousing poem “Still I Rise,” was the recipient of many honors and accolades, including the 2011 Presidential Medal of Freedom awarded to her by President Barack Obama. She was indeed a treasure, revered by many not only in literature, but in entertainment and politics. Today, she transitioned at her home in Winston-Salem, NC, but we will forever have the words and stories that made us all fall in love with her.
