Jazmine Sullivan, K. Michelle & More Honored at ASCAP’s “Women Behind the Music” in NY & LA
Last night, ASCAP honored six fierce females in New York and Los Angeles for their annual “Women Behind the Music” event. Over 200 industry VIPs packed Toshi’s Living Room in NYC to celebrate the careers of RCA recording artist Jazmine Sullivan, DJ Kiss and RCA Records VP of Promotion Sam Selolwane. On the West Coast, Bardot was the spot where top music influencers gathered to toast the achievements of Atlantic recording artist K.Michelle, Billboard senior editor Gail Mitchell and Motown Records’ VP of Creative Relations & Marketing Myisha Brooks. Both events kicked off with a MYX & Mingle hour, where guests experienced the refreshing natural flavors of Mango, Coconut, Peach and original MYX Fusions Moscato. The audience was then treated to a Q&A with the honorees, moderated by Nicole George-Middleton, ASCAP VP of Rhythm & Soul/Urban, in New York and Mir Harris, Associate Director, ASCAP Rhythm & Soul/Urban in L.A. New York attendees enjoyed a live performance by Sullivan, who sang “Forever” and “Stupid Girls.” Additional guests in Los Angeles included Monami Entertainment CEO/MYX Fusions CMO Mona Scott-Young and “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood” stars Ray J and Teairra Mari.
