Borderlands Handsome Collection Comes To Next Gen Consoles
“That’s Mushy Snugglebites’s badonkadonk. She’s my main squeeze. Lady’s got a gut fulla dynamite and a booty like POW!” – Tiny Tina – Borderlands 2
There are few games on the market that have the personality that Borderlands 2 does. At times it is just satisfying encountering the RIDONKULOUSLY silly characters that have some of the most memorable one liners. From Clap-Trap to Tiny Tina to Handsome Jack, Borderlands is full of comedy and a mature yet light hearted mood that makes blasting through countless bandits, aliens, and more fun regardless if it is the main game or the modest DLC additions that Gearbox Software always delivers.
So when Borderlands: The PreSequel dropped last year on ‘current gen’ systems only, a lot next-gen of Vault Hunters scratched their heads wondering why a next gen version of the game wasn’t released. Well, your loot hunting prayers have been answered as one of the greatest loot-based FPSRPG’s ever made is coming to PS4 and Xbox One on March 24th in the US and on the 27th internationally!
Dubbed The Handsome Collection, this Borderlands collection combines the adventures of your vault-hunters used in the Borderlands 2 and Pre-Sequel games. This also includes all of the enjoyable downloadable content as well. To sweeten the pot, Gearbox has added cross-save functionality as well. For those who have the intelligence of Clap-Trap, that means that your old saves from PS3, Xbox 360, and PS Vita can be converted for use in this next gen version to continue your adventures rather than starting completely over.
“The Handsome Collection gives players the opportunity to experience the full arc of Handsome Jack’s rise and fall, from his not-so-humble beginnings on Elpis to becoming the tyrannical Hyperion CEO on Pandora, all in one value-packed bundle,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “This collection marks the Borderlands franchise’s official move to the next-gen platforms, and we’re proud to offer our fans the ability to continue playing with the characters they’ve built as they carry on adventuring in The Handsome Collection.”
Key features in The Handsome Collection include the following:
- Two critically acclaimed Borderlands games in one package – Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Borderlands 2;
- Over $100 in value and hundreds of hours of gameplay with all downloadable content* for Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel;
- Save transfers** from the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and PlayStation®Vita onto the next-gen consoles through cross-save functionality;
- Four-player split screen allowing four friends to play together on a single television, a first for the Borderlands franchise.
This is a great bundle for Borderlands fans that just snagged their shiny new next gen consoles and were tired of swapping back and forth to get their vault-hunting fill. Bunneh3000 will CERTAINLY be able to finally complete his unfinished Borderlands 2 adventures as well as finally dig into the origins of Handsome Jack with The Pre-Sequel (which I’ve yet to play).
The addition of the split screen play is a huge addition as well considering that the Borderlands franchise is probably one of the best co-op games this side of probably Diablo 3 that consoles have seen in quite some time. It made no sense to fans early on with the first two Borderlands games that local co-op play was not an option so this addition is most assuredly welcome.
Lastly, the die-hard fans who enjoyed spending the extra cash for the Vault-Hunter Edition of Borderlands 2 back in the day (with the sweet loot chest that held the game and all of the other goodies that edition came with) will enjoy the Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition. This edition features everything in The Handsome Collection as well as a remote controlled Claptrap steward robot, a collectible steel case, and 12 exclusive lithographs. Priced at $300, this edition is limited to only 5000 units worldwide so get in quickly. Apparently this little real life Claptrap can move in all directions while balancing on one wheel, say lines in character, and live stream video to a mobile device through his eye. SWEEET!
Rejoice vault hunters!
