This ambitious and talented group of men, formerly signed to Motown,  are set to make their mark on music with their 13 track EP What If Later Never ComesMPrynt is comprised of 4 young men (TyceBuddaFaheem and Rael) who are poised to continue the legacy of male R&B groups like Jodeci112 and Boyz II Men. They’ve given a nod to preceding groups by being coordinated in their collective appearance, but unique as individuals. This could prove to be a great move for the group in a musical landscape that doesn’t have an occupant in the market of 4 piece R&B groups. All four singers have the skills to be solo artists, but opted to combine their talents in singing, songwriting and instrumentation to deliver something that could really make an impact on the industry.

Pop Wansel and Oak Felder serve as producers for the EP, presenting an un-wilted take on 90s R&B feels mixed with some trap elements and loads of musicality. These producers also give nods to R&B predecessors Toni! Tony! Tonéand H-Town producers Keven and Solomon Conner with samples from It Never Rains In Southern California and Knockin’ Da Boots, respectively. If you listen closely to a couple of other cuts, you hear samples and iterations of other classic R&B songs. Wansel and Felder are tasteful in their approach and sensitive to what sounds work in today’s industry and as amazing as the production is, MPrynt remains front and center, navigating each track with posture and precision.

Overall, the What If Later Never Comes EP feels organic and new, even with heavy influences from the past. The classic romance narrative prevails in the writing. Their voices meld well harmonically and don’t tire the ears. The final track is a recording of a live performance of theirs, serving as a testament to their undeniable skills.

Having opened twice for the incomparable Marsha Ambrosius, most recently during her Lovers and Friends Tour, MPrynt is slated for a few performances this Spring, including an upcoming show this Wednesday, March 18th in Philly at the renowned Theater of Living Arts (TLA) where the foursome is headlining The Winners Circle, alongside some of Philly’s premiere talent.
