Last weekend Talib Kweli headlined the 2015 Block Party  LA!  Block Party LA took over the entire block of 3200 Union Pacific Ave in LA to bring its fans the second installment of the Block Party LA concert series! Following A. Glaspie Marketing’s first concert, which featured a set by LA based independent female hip hop artist, Ill Camille, and West Coast legend, Kurupt, this one day action packed concert featured some of today’s hottest independent artists in the game.

Keeping up with the momentum of such a successful event the first time around, the line up this year included the legendary Talib Kweli, Curtiss King ( who surprised fans with a performance from Ab Soul), Terrace Martin, Preston Harris, Dean Risko, Alex Isley, Ramaj Eroc, The League, NameBrand, Jake&Papa, Craig Gillespie, Tassnata + Junia-T, Rook and Overdoz.

“My goal with Block Party LA is to give independent artist a solid foundation and space where artist have the opportunity to leave a legacy.’” says Ashley Glaspie who is the founder of Block Party LA. “I was raised to give back and with that instilled in me combined with my love for music, Block Party LA has become my way of giving back to the community and helping my generation to feel empowered to chase their dreams.”

A portion of the proceeds raised during Block Party LA 2015 were donated to the Children’s Defense Fund’s  scholarship program “Beat the Odds”. With the mission of not leaving one child behind, the Children’s Defense Fund, ensures that every child has a healthy start, head start, a fair start and a moral start in life leading to a successful passage to adulthood with the help of caring families and communities. Glaspie doesn’t only want concert goers to enjoy a great time, but she also wants people to walk away inspired to give back and help their community.
