MADE IN AMERICA FEST 2015: BEYONCE, MEEK MILL, NICK JONAS & MORE!
Yesterday, Budweiser Made in America kicked off in Philly and it is definitely the place to be this weekend. With legions of music lovers from across the nation and celebrities including Jay-Z, Kelly Rowland, stylist June Ambrose, actor Bradley Cooper, and Mo’Ne Davis flocking in to see some of music’s biggest names including the headliner of the evening Beyoncé, the energy was high and festival goers seemed to be having a great time and Heed was in the mix!
Breakout UK band, The Struts, started things up on the Rocky Stage with a high energy, rock and roll set. From making people get on the ground to coming in the crowd, they definitely started things off right!
Over on the Liberty Stage, rapper Earl Sweatshirt turned it up. Getting the crowd amped with three new songs, one of which he raps over A$AP Rocky and Schoolboy Q’s single, “Brand New Guy”.
Later on at the Rocky Stage, Chicago rapper Vic Mensa kept the party going starting his set with “Feel That”. After a series of total ‘turn up’ moments, he paid homage to legendary grunge rock band, Nirvana, performing their classic “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and the crowd went nuts!
The legendary De La Soul hit the stage performing a medley of some of their biggest hits.
Nick Jonas kicked off his electrifying set with “Chains”. By this point the festival attendance to appeared to have quadrupled! He continued rocking the crowd performing his mega hit single, “Jealous”.
Over on the Rocky stage Philly rapper, and Nicki Minaj’s beloved beau, Meek Mill rocked the crowd! If there was any doubt that he and Drake’s rocky moment would put a damper on his mass appeal, I think that was dispelled. During the performance of his song “Amen” he brings out his son, Papi, who then went on to do the best “Whip/Nae Nae” of the night! After getting the crowd amped playing some Freeway, State Property, Jay-Z and Future, Nicki Minaj appears out of the abyss for an impromptu performance of their hot single, “All Eyes On You”.
And then, after performances from G-Eazy, DJ Mustard, Modest Mouse and more, there was Beyoncé! As her performance time of 10:30pm approached, festival goers were practically packed like sardines waiting for Queen Bey to take the stage. Some fans had been waiting since the festival began and for good reason. She opened her set with the new rendition of “Crazy in Love” (as heard in ’50 Shades of Grey’). With choreography by Chris Grant and Anthony Burrell, Beyoncé shut Philly down performing several mashups of her hits. It was definitely a performance worth seeing!
