The Martian Makes Science Cool Again
A visually dynamic and emotionally-driven work of art. The Martian makes you consider the immense potential of space exploration while keeping true to the reality of the great risk it could potentially entail. Memories of high school chemistry class were recalled to my mind as we watched character “Mark Watney” bootstrap an extraterrestrial greenhouse. Mark’s story, the film’s special effects and fiction mixed with fact made science ‘cool’ again. Viewing the The Martian in 3D immerses viewers into a four-year long journey while building up the anxiety, hope and excitement that makes any blockbuster film worth seeing. The Academy Award winning lead, Matt Damon, ups the ante of this theatrical production along with an all-star cast which was rounded out by trending millennial influencer, Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino).
