KOTA Premieres “RIVERS” as One to Watch for 2016
With the first official release off his untitled project burning up the internet, KOTA released his 2nd single “RIVERS”, exclusively with THE FADER.
The dark-yet-reflective track produced by JCorreabeats, contrasts from his critically acclaimed debut single “CUSTOMS“, as it focuses less on his past and almost contradicts what he once saw of the future. KOTA describes the track as “one of the most transparent songs he has recorded to date” saying:
“I’m excited to take fans a little bit deeper on this single. I recently recorded this track while I was in LA and worked with JCorreabeats, a producer from Florida. Usually I like to leave a cloud of of smog between myself and the music –so there is a sense of ambiguity but I’m growing. I can visualize what I want better and I want my fans to really understand where I’m at mentally.”
Building on the success of his debut single “CUSTOMS” which received glowing reviews from outlets such as, Pigeons and Planes, NYLON, VIBE, XXL,The SOURCE, Global Grind, Hip-Hop Wired, GENIUS, RESPECT, he has critics and fans alike, agreeing with NYLON, deeming him “The coolest new indie rapper.” No doubt, influences like Jay-Z, Nas, Lauryn Hill, Kid Cudi, Bob Dylan, The Beatles and others, has helped KOTA to revitalize the NY scene all from his Clinton Hill stoop. Garnering over 500k streams on SoundCloud, he has created an undeniable buzz for himself proving he is truly one to watch for 2016.
