Heed had the amazing opportunity to help two notable and accomplished honorees celebrate their life achievements thus far
on this past Tuesday, November 15th.
Inspired in NY, an event founded by Camille Evans, honors New York Urban Icons in film, sports, music, art and entrepreneurship. Doug E. Fresh also known as the Human Beat Box was honored for his culture shaping musical career and entrepreneurial efforts in the community with the opening of Doug E’s Fresh Chicken and Waffles. Group Publisher and Co-CEO of Uptown Media Group/Vibe Lifestyle Network, Len Burnett, was also honored that night. Len’s publishing career spans over 20 years and he’s managed to keep ethnic geared publishing afloat in a down economy where dozens of popular magazine titles are dropping off of newsstands every year. New York Senator Bill Perkins, shared in the commencement by presenting certificates of achievement to both honorees.
