Gaming News: Young Justice game officially announced

DC Comics have always had a reputation of having accessible storylines to allow them to always appeal to new fans or fans who’ve just been away for a while. Time and time again they’ve released compelling and fun animated universe that began with the award winning Batman: The Animated Series. From that point on, they’ve spawned a number of great animated series that have featured Batman, Superman, and of course the Justice Leauge.

Recently, that family has been joined by the new Young Justice TV series which pits Robin as the leader of a group of teenage sidekicks hoping to become full fledged superheroes within the Justice League. The roster in the show focuses in on Robin (Batman’s sidekick), Aqualad (Aquaman’s mentor), Artemis (a mysterious recommendation by Green Arrow and Batman), Ms. Martian (Martian Manhunter’s niece), Kid Flash (The Flash), and Superboy (16 year old Superman clone).

Now that the next season is set to drop on March 3rd on Cartoon Network, Little Orbit has announced that a game entitled Young Justice Legacy shall delve into the storyline as well.

“The TV series is a fantastic combination of compelling writing, witty humor, iconic art, and exciting action sequences. The creators have done an amazing job blending over 180 DC Comics characters into their show filtered through a new, youthful perspective,” said Matt Scott, CEO of Little Orbit. “The new video game contains a slew of cool features and a large playable cast of familiar heroes, but our core mission is to create a unique experience that fits seamlessly into the world of the show and offers a new way to interact with these popular DC Comics characters.”

Within the press release, it is stated that the game is set for release “in early 2012″ on the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, and Nintendo DS systems. Clearly set to have a deep roster (as shown by the game’s website) of 12 playable characters, it is said to have both online and local multiplayer modes.

It should be interesting to see how this one turns out. Stay tuned for more info.
